Fundraising for a trip to Laos
A series of five fun, engaging classes about American history and culture
This course was developed by four USA Girl Scouts Overseas (Singapore) Cadette Girl Scouts to earn their Silver Award. The Silver Award is the second highest honor a Girl Scout can earn and each girl must put in a total of 50 hours of work or more. The classes were first taught in the first half of 2022.
The girls worked with Tom Marshall, an administrator at Stamford American International School, who is a former history teacher and journalist. They've also been advised by their two co-leaders: one is an educator and one is a former journalist and the current General Manager of the American Association of Singapore.
All nationalities welcome. Classes will be held on Sundays for 2-4pm at Gym Studio in
The American Club.
Why Laos?
We've been dreaming of a troop trip since we were Daisies at five years of age.
Troop 82 has been together for 11 years and the girls have experienced most things Singapore has to offer. They are looking forward to being outdoors somewhere new, planting rice, learning about local customs, touring temples, offering alms to the local monks and giving back. They are looking for an appropriate community service to complete while there.
